Is your pottery dishwasher or microwave safe?
Yes, all of our pottery is both dishwasher and microwave safe.
Can I buy a matching piece at another time?
Although you will be able to match glaze and clay type please remember no two pieces of hand thrown pottery will be the same, they may vary in color and size.
What is the difference between stoneware and porcelain?
Stoneware is a durable classic type of pottery. It is nonporous and completely opaque after firing. When glaze fired, it gives rough and earthy textures and colors blended with a sturdy clay body. Firing temperatures range from 2102o -2372o F / 1150o - 1300o C.
Porcelain is a delicate and rather elegant clay. Some of its most prized features are the smooth fine appearance and clear radiancey of colors that are formed on its clean white hard surface. Firing range is 2282o-2372 o F / 1250o - 1300o C.
What is the difference between buff, mixed, fire and white clay?
These four clays are all classified as stoneware.

What is glaze?
Glaze is simply a mixture of metal oxides and minerals mixed with water. When applied to pottery and fired at high temperatures it melts into a glassy surface that adheres to the clay body and provides a decorative surface with a wide range of colors and textures.
What is reduction fired pottery?
Reduction firing is a process generally designed for gas and wood kilns, where you starve the kiln of a certain degree of oxygen. This process draws out unique colors and unexpected flashes and hues which cannot be obtained in oxidation firing. Notable characteristics of reduction firing are gentle green celadon, deep rich blues and purples, speckled molted textures and startling “one of a kind” results.
Where can I buy lamp oil for the oil lamps?
You can find it at any hardware store or at Wal-Mart.
Can I use scented oils?
We have not found scented lamp oils at this time.
Can I use your soap on sensitive skin?
Yes, goat’s milk soap is very gentle on your skin. We have received reports from customers with eczema and other dry skin disorders that they have been able to use this soap and they love it. One man bought 40 bars.
Are your fragrances essential oils or fragrance oils?
We use both essential and fragrance oils. We carry 4 unscented soaps and at this time 1 made with essentials oils; Rosemary Garden.
